Hannes Van Damme is an Architect and Researcher with projects in Belgium and New York. He studied architecture at the KU Leuven, Department of Architecture in Belgium. He concluded his studies with an autonomous master project within the research project on Streetscape Territories of Dr. Kris W. B. Scheerlinck and presented his work to an audience of international experts in the New York Times Building, NY.

After finishing his studies he was nominated for ‘Meesterproef 2014’ to collaborate within the team of Flemish Building Master Peter Swinnen. He collaborated and facilitated in expositions and workshops on Streetscape Territories research projects hosted in New York, Barcelona, Ghent and Brussels. From 2013, he moved to New York to work within the project team of Terreform, a non-profit institute founded by Michael Sorkin and dedicated to research into the forms and practices of just and sustainable urbanism. Meanwhile he was also working as a project Architect in a New York based Architects office with projects in Europe and the United States.

Since 2015, Hannes Van Damme became a doctoral candidate with a Phd on Productive Sidewalks in New York City. Meanwhile he is tutoring at the KU Leuven, Department of Architecture in the International Master at the faculty in Brussel and Ghent.

Currently Hannes is also tutoring Architecture & Interior Design at the University of Rotterdam.
